I am from Japan, where I trained as a dancer. I was part of a touring group based in Frankfurt am Main in Germany prior to joining GöteborgsOperans Danskompani in 1998 where I remained until my retirement in 2016. During my carrier, I danced various type of repertoires from classical ballet to the contemporary dance for such performances as Pär Isberg’s Nutcracker, Mats Ek’s Giselle, Jirí Kylián’s Falling Angels and Petit Mort, William Forsythe’s Herman Schmerman, Nacho Duato’s Duende and Marie Chouinard’s The Rite of Spring & Body Remix etc.
I also trained as a ballet pedagogue at The Royal Ballet School, Teacher’s Training Course in London, Dip.RBS (TTC) in 1993 and qualified as a Pilates instructor in 1994 (taught directly by Alan Herdman himself).
-Pilates and me-
My pilates appreciation stems from the successful prevention and rehabilitation from my injuries and the support it provided me during early year as aspiring dancer. Having reaped the benefits of the technique first hand, I went on to complete the Alan Herdman teacher training course in 1994 straight after gaining a diploma in the teacher’s training course at The Royal Ballet School in London (1990-1993). Whilst been a professional dancer, I have also been teaching ballet and Pilates in various places.
I love all the work with a reformer!
